It's been a considerable time since my last posting of a "weekly" highlight. The Covid lock-down, a full work agenda, and lots of work on our new house, and finally the transition to a new job and associated weekly commute, have caused a long break from editing photos, and eventually also taking photos.
However, now the time has come to get back into things again. I certainly still love my work, now more then ever, but I really need to also allocate room again for my creative side. In "catching up", I will first focus on editing some of the older "projects" that are still patiently awaiting me on the harddrive.
It also means that I will now be able to get back in the habit of regularly publish a photographic highlight. In the past I had the ambition to do this weekly, in terms of weekly highlights. I will now follow a more realistic ambition by just aiming to publish regular highlights. So, sometimes there might be weeks in between postings of new highlights.
This photo was taken on the lake near Bradley Brook, New York (state), during least year's holiday in the USA. We were staying at the lakeshore of Bradley Brook for a few relaxing days. Most of the evenings, we went on a boat ride to experience the sunset, while enjoying a nice glass of wine. On one of these evenings, there was no wind, while the sun was setting beautifully.
The trace of mellow waves trailing off to the left, gives away the fact that we were actually on a boat. What i also find a nice feature in this photo is the double mirroring of lines. First of all, there is the obvious mirroring in the water. The second mirroring is between left and right. To the right, the tree-line and its mirror image in the water, create a kind of a parabolic curve. On the left, this is matched by the lower cloud formation and its mirror image in the water, which form another parabolic curve. In the middle of the two parabolic curves, we find the "dimming fire" of the setting sun, and its mirrored image in the water.
