This photo was taken during my latest visit to Namibia. But no; this is not an aerial photo taken above the Namibian desert. So what are we looking at?
At one of the lodges we stayed at, we went on a sunset safari. During the (deep) golden hour, we came across some elephant. I managed to take some close up shots. This photo zooms in on the skin of the elephant's flank (to the left), while still showing part of the earflaps (to the right). The dark part in the middle, is not a "ridge" in the landscape, but is actually the shadow of the earflaps as it is cast on the flanks of the elephant.
