This photo was taken in Namibia. The elephants living in the northern dessert area are, so-called dessert elephants. Though not a separate species, they have adopted to the live in this arid area, as a result of which they are smaller than their cousin's living in more lush areas.

We "caught" this pair, while they were eating away at the trees along a dry river bed. They seem to be happy to "pose" for us, whole continuing to enjoy their meal.

As the light was rather strong, in post I reduced the high lights a bit (mainly effecting the background), while pushing the shadows to bring out the foreground.
