This photo was taken in deadvlei in the sossusvlei area in Namibia. There was a strong wind blowing. As a result the sand was blown "in plumes" from the sand dunes, while the morning sun lit up the sand plumes. 

In processing this photo, I only increased the contrast, and removed some sensor dust, which is inevitable in a dessert.
